The pupils of Dromintee Primary school were privileged to have a play written by the dramatist and writer, Pauline Lynch, for them. The debut of the play “The Hiring Fair” was presented recently at Ti Chulainn by our pupils. The play’s content was created from research by Mr Kevin Murphy from Cuimhneamh in Ti Chulainn in Mullaghbawn. Mr Murphy came to our Nativity Play and paid tribute to the boys and girls of Dromintee Primary School for their commitment to practice on 5 Saturday mornings and for their enrichment of the Michael J Murphy Winter Festival’s programme through the reenactment of the stories of the local people who were hired out. Mr Murphy gave each child a statuette or an Oscar for participation in the event. Go raibh maith agaibh to Alannah, Neil, Fia, Eala, Ealadh, Orla, Gemma and Grace. Mr Murphy told the children in our school that there has been more written about our townland than any other in Ireland.
