On Thursday 26th September the Ring of Gullion Landscape Partnership met at Killeavy Castle Estate to celebrate the Ring of Gullion Landscape Partnership Scheme. Throughout the day, the attendees were presented with a series of performances, talks and videos, showcasing the achievements over the past five years.
“The vision for the Landscape Partnership was to raise awareness and encourage a focus on the landscape, the beauty and distinctiveness of its natural features and cultural heritage. The Ring of Gullion landscape was to be improved, restored and more fully appreciated through positive landscape management.” said Des Murphy, Chairperson of the Ring of Gullion Landscape Partnership Board. “The Landscape Partnership has achieved this in a wide variety of ways and formed strong and lasting links with local communities. I am very proud of all the work accomplished by the team and everyone involved.”
Dromintee Primary School’s Teresa Murray, Eco Schools coordinator, Global Schools coordinator and key stage 2 teacher interested in local studies spoke at the event. She outlined all the benefits to the school over the last 3 years having been included in many projects. She thanked the partnership for their opportunities for children to become involved in a very hands-on way in their surroundings. School curricula have been enriched through this partnership.
