Today we had a guest visitor to our P1 class, Mrs Helen Hanratty. Fia’s mum is a marine biologist. She taught us lots of fun sea creature facts about scallops, whales and sea safety. We all enjoyed this active session very much and were greatly appreciative of the time Fia’s mum took to prepare her fantastic resources we got to see and hold. We got to explore scallops, predicted and saw how long a minke and blue whale were and did a science experiment to demonstrate how a whale filters the sea water to get his food. We also learnt some important water safety advice and played a fun sea flag game.
