We were delighted to receive £250 from Mulkerns at their recent ‘Cash for Schools’ promotion. When members of our community spent £40 in store they got a voucher and were able to vote for one of 5 local schools. We decided that we would spend the money on adding books to our outdoor reading room. We feel that reading helps children to escape their own lives and go to faraway places. At this challenging time in our lives, reading has never been more important. Primary 4 to primary 7 children all use the outdoor reading room to get their Accelerated Reading books. Every child who accesses it wrote the name of the book they’d like to read next on a piece of paper and 7 from each class were selected in a lucky dip. We now have over 30 new books in our reading area and we’d like to thank Mulkerns Eurospar for their generosity and for enriching our children’s reading experiences.
