This week we have been enjoying Maths Week Ireland 2021. In P1 we explored and discussed the Maths Week poster “Exploring Maths in the Jungle” and have had lots of opportunities to use our maths skills in different ways. We sorted animals using lots of different criteria, counted together, spied and painted snake patterns. We also went outdoors for some Mindful in Maths activities. Each activity base had different equipment and we had to use our thinking skills and come up with an idea related to Maths. We decided to sort the 2d shape tiles, make number sets with the beanbags and tap the number on our drums and finally we used skipping ropes and cones to make the shape of the numbers 1-3 before using chalk to write them on the boards. It really has been a very busy, fun Maths Week!
