We have been introduced to Global Learning in P2. To introduce this new concept we initially discussed things that our important to us in our lives living in the big world. Here are a few ideas we generated in our class discussion:
- ‘rubbish~ don’t litter our playground and countryside
- food~ different food from different countries
- recycle using our different coloured bins
- save the electricity~ turn off the lights
- keep others happy~ being kind and fair
- during Christmas we do the shoe box appeal/ In Lent we give money to Trocaire.’
We also read a book called ‘Finn the Fortunate tiger shark & his fantastic friends.’ It is from the ‘Be the Change’ series by Georgina Stevens. The purpose of the book is to help a child understand why we need to protect our ocean and how pollution has a terrible effect on it. As a follow-up we designed our own poster and added a speech bubble with some good advice.
