Celebrating Roald Dahl day
Today we welcomed back an old friend, Bernie Mc Conville (Past P1 C/A) to P1. She read us the story of 'The Enormous Crocodile' by Roald Dahl. It was such a beautiful fresh morning that we sat outside in the walled semi-circle of the big yard for storytime. Bernie brought the book to life and we used our imagination to do some actions and enjoyed tossing the crocodile into space!
As a follow up to this reading experience we, in P1, wish to commence the introduction of selecting and bringing home a daily library book from our class library. It is hoped that the book is read as part of your bedtime routine and returned to school.
Therefore in conjunction with Roald Dahl day and to generate enthusiasm for reading we have hidden some ‘Golden Tickets’ (from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) inside our class library books. We hope you find one and thoroughly enjoy this shared reading experience at home every night with your child.
Keep an eye on the school website www.drominteeps.com to find out the lucky winners of the golden tickets!
We also have a class story sack that we choose books from to read during our class storytime. If your child wishes to bring in their favourite storybook or a book of interest throughout the year we will endeavour to read and return it to you.
We look forward to welcoming more special visitors, guests and grandparents to read to us at storytime during the year.
