Busy bees in P2!

26th Feb 2018

Over the past few weeks we have been busy learning about questions, measuring weight using weighing scales and have exploring topic work about Toys.  Some of the main highlights included taking in our favourite toy from home to share with our friends (PDMU) and writing a story about it for our writing wall. During Plan Do Review one day Jude created a lazer quest using different coloured wool-we all had lots of fun pretending to be a super hero saving Ginger Bear across the mat to the Mission Impossible music. We also were delighted to welcome Paraic's granny into P2 for a talking and listening session about toys and life in her day.  In preparation for her visit we created our own questions to ask her.  We attentively listened to her tales about her favourite doll which was passed down to her from her mother and she gave to her own daughter; she told us what school was like when she was a little girl and our P2 pupils were surprised to hear that there was a fire in her classroom and no toys! We learnt lots more interesting facts and after she left we went outside to play some of the playground games she told us about.  We played hopscotch, hola hoops, playground chants like 'In and out goes dusty bluebells' 'Queenio' and we discovered that Katie and Shane are particularly talented at skipping!
